Travel Program

Where Champions Are Built.

We don’t just teach basketball—we build confident athletes, teach leadership, and foster a love of the game. With a focus on development, competition, and community, HD Travel is where players become teammates, teammates become family, and passion becomes progress.

Overview of HD Travel Programs

At Hoopademix, our Travel program is the heart of who we are. It’s where talent is developed, passion is fueled, and lifelong memories are made. HD Travel teams give dedicated players the opportunity to compete at a high level with some of the top basketball talent from across Illinois and beyond.

With multiple teams at each grade level, we provide a place for every player to grow, whether they’re ready to lead at the top or build foundational skills in a competitive setting. Every player in our program receives a meaningful, team-based basketball experience tailored to their development and goals.

Team Structure & Player Placement

Each season (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer), we host a structured evaluation process. Players who are selected will receive an official email invitation to join a team.

Teams are formed based on:

  • Skillset
  • Athleticism
  • Team impact and role within their grade level
  • Overall Understanding of the game

There are 2 Competition Levels and most grades will have multiple teams per grade levels

  • Hoopademix – our most competitive teams that play the most rigorous schedule and travel across state lines to play a more national schedule. Includes our national teams and circuit level teams
  • HD  Our competitive but more developmental focused teams

Tier levels for the different competition levels

  • National Team/ Circuit Team – Elite assembled team
  • Black Team – Top Team
  • Orange Team – Competitive 2nd Team
  • White & Red Teams – Developmental Teams
  • There can also be multiple elite assembled teams or developmental teams at each age group.

This tiered approach ensures players are placed in an environment that challenges them and supports their growth.

Practices & Player Development

All HD Travel teams practice twice per week, with two 90-minute sessions guaranteed.

Practices are designed to:

  • Sharpen individual skills and team fundamentals
  • Prepare players for game-day competition
  • Emphasize:
    • Offensive & defensive concepts
    • Game strategy and team readiness
    • Situational play (e.g., out-of-bounds sets, press breaks)
    • Core skills: ball handling, passing, shooting, and footwork

Our focus is on long-term development, not just short-term wins.

Competitions

Each team plays a set number of competitive games each season to support skill application in real-time scenarios.

  • Fall: [6] Tournaments
  • Winter: [4] Tournaments
  • Spring [5] Tournaments
  • Summer: Flexible Weekend Game Plan
  • Spring/Summer National & Circuit: [8] Tournaments mostly 2 to 3 day events with out of town overnight trips included

Most games are scheduled on weekends and take place in local tournaments or one-day shootouts—usually two games at the same venue per day.

Game Locations & Scheduling

  • Games are typically held within 30–50 minutes of the city; occasional travel up to 60+ minutes may occur.
  • Families are notified of game weekends at the start of the season.
  • Exact game times are typically released by Thursday morning of each tournament week, allowing 2–3 days’ notice.
